Background

Tom joined Rochem FYREWASH® in 2014 at the age of 19, initially helping with the relocation of thecompany's facilities as a Workshop Assistant.

What began as a temporary role quickly became the start of a rewarding engineering career after he discovered a passion for engineering and the challenge of building gas turbine washing equipment.​

Before joining Rochem FYREWASH®, Tom developed many of his practical skills by working alongside his father, a carpenter whose craftsmanship inspired him from an early age.

That hands-on experience gave him a strong work ethic and a desire to continually improve, qualities that have shaped his career ever since.​

Starting with little previous engineering knowledge, Tom was determined to learn as much as possible from experienced colleagues and embraced every opportunity to develop his skills.

Through dedication, practical experience and a willingness to take on new challenges, he progressed through the business and now serves as Workshop Manager.​

Today, Tom oversees the day-to-day management of the workshop, ensuring projects progress efficiently while leading the workshop team, supporting training and maintaining high standards of health and safety.

He has developed extensive practical knowledge of Rochem FYREWASH® products and manufacturing processes and is the team's first point of contact for solving technical challenges.​

One of the highlights of Tom's career was travelling independently to Houston, Texas, in 2023 to install a bespoke nozzle system on a customer's gas turbine. The successful installation enabled the customer to carry out the required compressor washes and remains one of his proudest professional achievements.​

Tom enjoys every aspect of engineering and is particularly motivated by solving problems and developing innovative solutions. He is especially excited by the continued development of new wash skids, where every project brings a unique engineering challenge.​

Outside work, Tom runs his own business, MAICO HandyWorks, allowing him to further develop his practical skills while providing services to customers in his local area.

He also enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, following football, listening to music and taking on mountain climbing challenges, including successfully completing the Three Peaks Challenge.​

Tom lives with his wife, their two children, their black Cockapoo, Lottie, and cat, Hazel, and is looking forward to welcoming their third child later this year. Despite his many achievements, he says his greatest accomplishment is his family.​
