Today, you may know Rochem as the global leader in gas turbine and process compressor cleaning products. However, did you know that the company started as a specialist in water treatment at sea?
We’re looking back at the evolution of to trace our journey to the company we know today.
To begin with, Rochem Group focused on water, wastewater and chemical solutions at sea. Distribution was secured to 55 of the world’s major ports, establishing global reach and recognition.
While one part of the company focused on groundbreaking reverse osmosis systems for maritime clients, Rochem FYREWASH® Ltd (Rochem Technical Services Group) branched off to deliver efficiency-enhancing systems for onshore and offshore gas turbines. We concentrated especially on on-line and off-line and chemicals.
The UK’s rapid development of the offshore oil and gas industry saw a surge in large-scale gas turbines installed. Reliable production was essential, and these sites required specialist cleaning solutions to support efficiency. We were ready to meet that demand and became a trusted supplier of the necessary cleaning systems.
Noticing a need for safe, effective gas turbine cleaning fluid, we turned our attention and years of industry expertise to developing a specialist cleaning chemical. FYREWASH® SB was launched: the first hydrocarbon solvent-based chemical specifically designed for on-line and off-line gas turbine compressor cleaning. The standard was set.
While enabling customers with revolutionary cleaning chemicals was a huge step, we recognised that chemical efficacy was restricted if it could not be utilised effectively. The next step was to create precision delivery systems, allowing customers to effortlessly and effectively deliver cleaning chemicals precisely where they were needed. We began making patented, custom-engineered nozzles capable of atomising and delivering cleaning solution during on-line and off-line cleaning.
In 1984, we took our gas turbine compressor cleaning systems and FYREWASH® chemicals to America where they were quickly adopted and widely used. We’ve since expanded our reach and are the chosen supplier for over 15,000 gas turbines all over the world.
Following the success of that initial FYREWASH® product, we’ve expanded the range, catering to different environments and client needs. Now you can choose between products including environmentally sensitive chemicals, low foaming options, a and more. Ideal for on-line and off-line use, our pioneering chemicals have revolutionised gas turbine compressor cleaning and enabled countless sites to regain lost power and improve efficiency.
Looking back, it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come. Since branching off as Rochem FYREWASH® and blazing a trail as experts in gas turbine compressor cleaning, we’re immensely proud of our innovation and product range.
We’ve installed cleaning systems in over 15,000 gas turbines and have an annual growth of approximately 300 new installations annually.
We’re delighted to partner with major turbine manufacturers including General Electric, Siemens Energy, Solar Turbines Inc, BHGE and Kawasaki.
Our patented cleaning nozzles are known for their high atomisation, low flow fates and erosion-free spray patterns, enabling optimal cleaning with minimal chemical use.
Our FYREWASH® chemical range caters to customers in a variety of environments with different, sometimes challenging cleaning needs.
We pride ourselves as trailblazers in the industry and constantly look for ways to serve our customers. Our innovative chemists stay ahead of the curve as new challenges in legislation restrict certain chemical use; we constantly seek ways to minimise the environmental impact of our operations and product use; we look at ways to break new markets, expanding our global reach to empower new sites with our product range and chemicals.
