FYREWASH® F2

Highly biodegradable natural solvent

At Rochem we specialise in gas turbine compressor cleaning and have developed FYREWASH® F2 as part of our range of cleaning chemicals. It is highly biodegradable while extremely effective, making it perfect for environmentally sensitive locations.

This water base product contains a grease cutter and ultra-pure surfactants that are natural and renewable with no compromise on performance. Meanwhile, the low-foaming characteristic reduces off-line wash cycle time, allowing you to be economical on water.

  • Versatile Like the other products in the FYREWASH® range, the F2 can be used for both on-line and off-line gas compressor cleaning.  F2 mixes readily with most antifreeze agents to allow low ambient temperatures on-line/off-line cleaning.

Properties of FYREWASH® F2

  • Appearance: Colourless.
  • Shelf life: 3 years.
  • Typical properties: Density 0.98g/ml@ 20°C, Flash point 88°C, Fluid form, PH 7.4 (20% in water).
  • Dilution: FYREWASH® F2 concentrate with four (4) parts of water into a stable solution.
  • Application: FYREWASH® F2 can be used with any on-line or off-line injection system.
  • Water rinse: On-line washing best practice is to perform a rinse flush with demineralised water. When off-line washing rinse until effluent runs clear.
  • Antifreeze: Add antifreeze below +10°C. FYREWASH® F2 is compatible with Methanol, Propylene Glycol and Ethylene Glycol. Rochem manufacture a superior freeze point depressant, Rochem FPD. Please contact us for further information

What are the health and safety considerations?

FYREWASH® F2 is a water-based product that contains a highly active grease cutter and surfactants, which make it an ideal on-line and off-line compressor cleaner.

  • EC Hazard rating: Xn, harmful. US NFPA rating 1,1,0
  • Protective equipment required: Wear suitable protective clothing including gloves and eye/face protection and use in a well ventilated area.
  • Spill management: Anyone cleaning up spilled FYREWASH® F2 should wear appropriate protective clothing and eye/face protection. Collect spilled fluid using a non-combustible absorbent material (i.e. vermiculite, sand or earth).
  • Fire: In case of fire, use foam, carbon dioxide, dry chemicals, sand or earth. Do NOT spray with water as this may spread the fire. The chemical may produce carbon monoxide when burning.

Are there any environmental considerations?

Although FYREWASH® F2 is biodegradable, the chemical and rinse water should still be disposed of correctly. Consult your local environmental regulations.

Are there shipping restrictions?

FYREWASH® F2 is not subject to any road, sea or air shipping restrictions. It is classified as non-hazardous for international transport.

How should I store FYREWASH® F2?

Store in tightly closed drums in a cool, well ventilated space. Avoid temperature changes.

What injection system can it be used with?

F2 can be used with any on-line and off-line injection system.

How to use F2 for on-line gas turbine cleaning?

On-line gas turbine cleaning is normally performed by mixing one part FYREWASH® F2 concentrate with four (4) parts of water into a stable solution. The volume of chemical solution needed per wash and the optimum cleaning frequency will depend upon engine size, operating environment, and fouling tendency. It is recommended that a post rinse is performed to ensure that the nozzle system is cleaned and ready for next operation.

How to use F2 for Off-line gas turbine cleaning?

Concentrated FYREWASH® F2 is normally mixed with four (4) parts of good quality water. The solution is injected at cranking speed, allowed to soak for 20 to 30 minutes then thoroughly rinsed off at cranking speed with good quality water acceptable to the engine manufacturer. This compressor cleaning chemical can be used without dilution for offline cleaning, providing a superb cleaning result for heavily fouled compressors.
